Curate a polished, user-friendly department website and its subpages that outline all relevant department information in a clear, accessible manner. Develop visually appealing website that is easy to navigate, and optimized for readability and accessibility. Establish clear management guidelines and a maintenance schedule for future updates, streamlining the process and ensuring the website remains up-to-date.
I led the entire website development process, from creating the initial wireframe/outline and content structure to overseeing the design and managing technical updates. My responsibilities included managing the content writing process, ensuring that the site adhered to branding guidelines, and coordinating the integration of both visual and textual elements.
1. Develop Website Proposal and Wireframe
Developed a website proposal that outlined all relevant pages and content sections. In collaboration with the department Chair, we prioritized key pages to ensure the most critical information was accessible.
2. Content Development and Design Translation
Oversaw the content collection and development process. After the content was finalized, I translated the draft outline into a visually appealing site, ensuring a cohesive use of text and visuals. I also ensured the site was user-friendly, accessible, and adhered to University branding guidelines.
3. Ongoing Updates and Maintenance
Created guidelines to streamline future and general website updates to ensure the website remains up-to-date and year-to-year consistency.
Following the publication of the website, the top landing page for the '23 - '24 academic year was the /fellowship-opportunities pages representing 38% of total traffic, followed by the department landing page and /people page, making up 24% and 21% percent of traffic respectively.
Other key pages with high traffic include /lab-initiatives, /geh-ambassors, and /global-opportunities.
Pages related to student opportunities (fellowships, labs, global programs, etc.) received the highest user engagement.
